Research

DNAbiotec® performs contract research in addition to its own research activities.

We have, in the past, been involved in the following research projects:

Several self-initiated research programmes in neuromuscular disorders, energy metabolism and population genetics were launched.

The latter, as it relates to the mitochondria and type 2 diabetes (T2D) are currently the focus of our research. Neuromuscular disorders represent one of the most common groups of genetic disorders and affect primarily the muscular and nervous systems.

Our interest in these disorders paved the way for exploring energy metabolism, initially as it relates to these disorders, but it subsequently became the knowledge base that connects our mitochondrial research and type 2 diabetes research programmes.

All these research programmes aim to elucidate the genetic basis of the complex, multifactorial and epigenetic disorders that are investigated.
